Saturday, September 25, 2004New this week from Titan Books and DC Comics
There's a host of new graphic novels and collected editions out this week. Starting off with DC Comics' launches in the US, look out for JLA Volume 14: Trial by Fire, which collects together issues 84-89; and Starman: Grand Guignol, the penultimate collection in this series collating issues 61-73 of the monthly comic. Vertigo is publishing volume 2 of Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol (The Painting that Ate Paris), while DC's Humanoids arm, reprinting English translations of European graphic novels, is offering the Tintin-esque Chaland Anthology Volume 1: Freddy Lombard.
Titan Books is also on the releasing some reprinted DC Comics featuring Batman (Death and the Maidens), Green Arrow (The Archer's Quest) and Superman (Godfall in hardback). Grant Morrison's Sebastian O is also available this week, as are Hellboy spin-off B.P.R.D: The Soul of Venice and Other Stories and TV tie-in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Demon House. Saturday, September 18, 2004Things I missed by going on holiday
At the end of August, Titan Books was busy publishing books in the UK while I was winding down to go on holiday. I'm back now by the way, so expect normal-ish service to resume. Amongst Titan's releases available now are Hellblazer: Highwater by Brian Azzarello, which apparently sees John Constantine battle Nazis and masochists; Crisis on Multiple Earths Volume 3 from DC Comics' Silver Age vaults; Transformers: Second Generation featuring work by Simon Furman from the popular UK weekly comic (also available from Titan in the US); and Catwoman: The Movie and Other Cat Tales, which ingeniously includes a comic adaptation of the recent movie alongside a handful of classic Catwoman stories. Unless otherwise mentioned above, the books are available in the US from DC Comics.
