It’s 500 years since Henry VIII ascended to the English throne, famous for divorcing England from Rome and working his way through six wives. He was also the subject of a play by William Shakespeare, which has now had the Self Made Hero manga treatment.
Adapted by Richard Appignanesi and illustrated by Patrick Warren, the book follows a young Henry through his first two marriages, up to the birth of the future Queen Elizabeth. It’s a story of political intrigue, as the power-players of the English court try to exert their influence over the throne.
