Jessica Farm is an intruiging project from Josh Simmons. Simmons has devoted some of the next 42 years of his life to creating a 600-page graphic novel, which he’ll publish in 2050. Since January 2000 he’s been creating this work, one page per month, which he’ll make up as he goes along. Every time he hits 96 pages – in other words, once every eight years – he’ll publish them as a book. This is the first.
Described as Alice in Wonderland on crystal meth, this book is a bizarre mix of horror, fantasy and adventure where nothing is as it seems. It’s a fascinating experiment in comic story telling, both from the perspective of the story itself, and the creative process that lies behind it.
