If your daughters or sisters (or, you know, you) like a little fairytale romance, looking east to manga and manhwa (Japanese and Korean comics, respectively) could prove a bounteous source of new reading material. Land of Silver Rain, written and illustrated by Mira Lee, is a good example.
Misty-Rain is dumped in a cabbage patch as a baby by her all-too human mother. Rescued by a witch and brought up as a Dokebi (a mythical Korean race), all is good until the witch dies, Misty-Rain’s humanity is discovered and she’s returned to the real world.
