Although not presented as a comic, this book will be of interest to all students of comics and their creation, as it charts the long career of icon Joe Kubert. Having started drawing comics in 1938, and going professional as an assistant on Will Eisner’s The Spirit, Kubert is probably best known for his work at DC Comics, where he drew Batman and Superman, but also Hawkman and Sgt Rock. He’s also adapted classics like Tarzan for the comic page and started a school of art for up and coming talent.
With an ongoing career that has practically spanned the entire history of the modern American comic, Kubert’s story is told in great detail by Bill Schelly in this worthy biography.
