Will Eisner’s childhood in the slums of New York between the two world wars proved a major source of inspiration for his longer-form comics. Minor Miracles sees him recount a few of his favourite childhood memories, focusing on characters and situations that he saw as miraculous. Some of them he witnessed for himself, others are he heard from others. But they’re all stories in which fate plays a hand, seemingly pushing this way and that, nudging coincidences and good fortune into the paths of its characters, and adding depth to the rich tapestry of life.
