The second volume in Fantagraphics’ awe-inspiring reprints of E.C. Segar’s Popeye cartoons is as mammoth a book as the first. Beautifully bound in a hardback that’s so big it can’t avoid taking pride of place on a bookshelf, it collects strips from late 1930 through to October 1932. If you have any interest in Popeye and Segar’s other characters, or are lapping up the reprinted editions of the long list of other classic cartoonists currently doing the rounds, you owe it to yourself to take a look at this lovingly reproduced series.
