Comics are a great way of introducing youngsters to the stories behind great works of literature, helping to visualise complex characters, break down the action and potentially add a little pace with some judicious editing.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a classic tale of love that can never be. Quasimodo’s disfigurement and Esmerelda’s inability to clear her name of a crime she didn’t commit, lead down a path as doom-laden and fatalisitically inevitable as the peeling of Notre Dame’s mighty bells.
