Set in a mythical far eastern country, in a pseudo-medieval sort of era, the Mask of a Thousand Tears is a magical golden mask that allows its wearer to travel to the underworld and bring a dead loved-one back to the land of the living. Sadakyo is a young woman, found scouring a battlefield for the body of her dead fiancé. When she finds out about the mask, she sets off on a quest to find it.
