We don’t just like reading comics, we like reading about comics too. The Power of Comics, written by comics scholars Randy Duncan (Henderson State University) and Matthew J. Smith (Wittenberg University), is pitching itself as an introductory text book for the burgeoning number of comic book courses creeping onto higher education syllabuses.
With chapters on subjects ranging from definitions of comics, the history of comics, comic creation and the differences in comics from around the world, it sounds like it could make for a good grounding for those looking to get up to speed on the nature and breadth of the medium.
